A Ship Day

The tall ship 'Gunilla' was in Scalloway Harbour today. Built in Oskarshamn on the east coast of Sweden in 1939 as a three masted Bermudan rigged ship, she was converted to a motor vessel in 1954 and her figurehead given to The Maritime Museum at Oskarshamn.

In the 1990's she was converted back to sail rigged as a barque to serve as a school ship. In 1998 she received a new carved figurehead, a replica of the figure in Oskarshamn.

Got back to Lerwick to find the Cruise Ship 'Aida Aura' in Lerwick Harbour.

And the 'Dim Riv' doing trips round the harbour.
